Mobile Real Estate Technology – iPad Installed in the M Car

Garron gives us a look at the new and improved setup inside M Realty’s “M Car”:

Prior to installing the iPad, we had a Gateway laptop which had been custom mounted using the same mount that is used in police cruisers. We also had a mobile wifi hotspot installed so that we could have access to the internet while out touring or previewing homes with clients.

Since the iPad is much slimmer and lighter than the previous laptop, we were able to remove the large clamp style mount, and use a swivel mount with some velcro to secure the iPad in place. Plus, since the iPad has 3G service and wifi capability, we were able to remove the wifi hotspot and the USB hub associated with it. The result is a much cleaner looking install. Less wires. A true thing of beauty!

So, what does having an iPad installed actually do for us as Real Estate agents?

As Garron mentioned in his video, we’re working on implementing some new features into the HomeQuest platform that will allow agents to view their current location on the interactive map, along with the listings in the neighborhood (and their related blog posts). We’ll have quick access to all the other apps that could help while out showing clients around (thinking Yelp, Urbanspoon, Etc). Plus, with the right setup, you can listen to your iTunes library and watch movies (as a passenger of course)!

There has been some debate as to wether or not the iPad would be a useful tool in the Real Estate industry. In our opinion, that debate is over!
