Our Philosophy
Our guiding principal is the belief that every agent has a unique combination of strengths that can by embraced and cultivated. At M we concentrate on what you’re good at and enjoy, then truly collaborate with you to build a marketing program and practice that presents you and your strengths to the world.
We also believe the brokerage should offer a fun and collaborative environment. M is designed for the agents that are willing to apply strong effort toward their practice but want to embrace their creativity and play with new ideas. Real Estate is hard work no matter how you slice it – we might as well be working hard at something we enjoy and believe in. And at M we’re right there with you, helping with the little tech snags and the big creative projects.
Being an agent at M is very different than anything you have experienced. From day one, you are working directly with the founder, Garron Selliken, and the entire M team to identify your strengths and weaknesses. The first goal is to determine activities that are proven to generate business AND provide you enjoyment and satisfaction. We build an on and offline strategy to keep you consistently doing things you enjoy and have value to your Real Estate practice.
The web and social media have changed the game. It is now possible for you to manage sophisticated marketing campaigns that truly reflect you as an agent and a person. While each of our agent’s programs are highly individualized to their strengths, they are based on consistent principals and tools.
The M strategy with each of our agents: Do – Document – Share – Convert
Do – Consistently do activity that will cause you to be a good agents and activities that put you into a position to have Real Estate conversations that are productive. Realize that both are connected to each agent’s strengths, interests and passions.
Document – As you are out in the world engaging in Real Estate activity and connecting with your communities, it is now possible (and easy) to document what you’re doing and thinking. Smart phones and flip cams enable us to quickly and informally capture moments. Modern websites (WordPress) let us non technical types easily publish notes, pictures, video etc. Our M team works directly with each agent to make sure they can easily document and publish in a way that fits their style and interests.
Share – Our world is becoming more and more connected. Our ability to share our activities and thoughts and to engage in conversation is increasing every day. Life is now a rich mixture of meeting “in real life”, conversing and sharing on facebook/twitter, delivering news/information via email, placing our thoughts out for the world to see on our blogs.
Convert – All the “doing, documenting and sharing” must somehow convert into new clients if we are to succeed in Real Estate. Again, our ability to convert our activity and conversations into new clients is different for each of us. At M we help identify each agent’s proven “moments” when conversations produce new clients. The goal then becomes to do the activity, document, and share in a way that places the agent in a position for productive conversation more often.
The M tools that support our agent’s strategy
Websites – We collaborate with each agent to product a fully custom WordPress site that is designed specifically to their activities, passion, audience and style of documentation. The sites are built to present the agent authentically and to convert visitors to conversations and new clients.
Newsletters – We recently introduced an email newsletter system that is customized for each agent based on their website. The style matches their custom branded site and the content is drawn from the best posts from the month.
HomeQuest - HomeQuest is integrated into M Realty in many ways. M agents have a customized version that has additional features. Because of our close relationship with HomeQuest (development is under the same roof) the needs of our M agents drive the development road map for HomeQuest.
Social media – Facebook and Twitter, along with other social media sites, can play a large role in our agents sharing and connecting with fellow humans. Our team actively uses social media both for personal and business and help agents understand and use SM in a way that is comfortable for them.
Technology – iPads, iPhones, droids, video, Stickybits, drop box, docusign, etc. Ok we admit it, we are total geeks here at M. We are compelled to play with technology every day. So much tech can be fun, but essentially a distraction for us agents. There are however technology bits that emerge that can, and will, have impact on our industry. We love to experiment with emerging tech and bring what we find to our M agents.
SEO – Search engine optimization. Because a big part of our agents marketing programs center around publishing into their websites, we work with all our agents to understand at least a basic level of SEO understanding to increase the effectiveness of their websites. Some agents choose to go much deeper and build a large portion of their lead generation around SEO/web traffic conversion.
Ideas and creativity – M is a marketing lab
We believe Real Estate should not be just a mechanical process. There are certainly basic activities that must be done, but significant time should be spent in a creative, fun environment that feeds our soul and enhances our sense of community. We have a video studio available to agents, a full design company, programmers, and tech geeks all around.

We believe the brokerage has a responsibility to provide a robust creative environment to each agent that assists them in Real Estate production, but also cultivates their creativity and connection with community. We are lucky to have a job that allows so much flexibility and creativity that can provide large financial and emotional rewards.
